Archaeological Greece

This is a blog of my past, present, and future times in Greece while involved in archaeology there. You can read about my days there and look at fun pictures.

I have been working on homework and other class work. I have been doing Greek homework, which by the way is unimaginably easy and I am bored to the tee with. We had to work together to do the homework but I already did everything so I just helped the others with stuff. I had Greek Art and Archaeology class yesterday (Monday). We talked about adding a class since we are going to miss two classes. Next Monday there is no class b/c it is a holiday here and then the Monday after that we will all be in Santorini. So she is having us make up the class on the 15th of March. That really sux b/c I will have greek class from 9-12, then Greek art and Archaeology from 12-2, then Ancient Greek Culture from 2-5. So that day is really going to suck and I am not looking forward to it. However, I am really excited about Santorini. I already paid my money. I think this weekend I am going to Mount Olympus with a few people. That should be a lot of fun. I feel really sorry for anyone who has to be on the train going there with us b/c we will be so annoying it is not even funny. I also feel bad for anyone who will be on the boat with us to Santorini for the same reason. It is like 6 hours to Mount Olympus and 8 hours to Santorini so that should be a blast. Today we went to the National Archaeological Museum and had so many problems with that. The buses were going on strike at 11 in the morn. That was the original time we had to meet at the museum. Then Michael changed it to 10:45. So we left really early and went to the bus stop. Then Dino, Nick, Peter, Mike, and Mark showed up and we all waited for a little while. The buses were still working at that time but the trolleys we noticed after like 15 minutes of waiting were not running and that was what we needed. So me, Bry, and Matt Hull decided to take the metro. We took it to Omonia Square and then we started walking and could not find the museum. So we called Michael and told him the situation and he said that was fine. Michael himself was running late as well. So we turned around and walked and walked and by this time we were lost but then Bry asked someone where it was and they pointed us in the right direction and we found it. It turns out that when we got there Michael was not even there. He showed up like 10 minutes after us. Dino, Nick, and Peter showed up late too. So it was a nightmare trying to get to the museum this morning. Then afterwards we decided that we wanted sushi so we started walking to the metro and when we got there all the metros were also on strike. So we decided to just catch a cab. The cabs would not stop for us b/c there were 4 of us. It also did not help that we were going in the wrong direction so we had to switch directions. Then we finally got a cab to take us to Syntagma but with only 2 seats left. So me and Bry took that one. We told Amy and Tabitha to meet us at the Syntagma metro when they got a cab. So we were waiting and then Bry called them and they said they got dropped of at the Plaka. So Bry and I walked down to the Plaka and could not find them. Then we called them back and they said they were in Syntagma, where we just were. So we went back there and called them again. They said that they were in the Plaka. I was like you just said you were on the Amalia street which is in Syntagma. They were like no we told you to go down that street to the Plaka. I was like no. So then me and Bry decided that we would catch a bite to eat somewhere and then go back to the hotel. So we ate at this place called Everest right by the McDonalds in Syntagma. It was really good except for the fact that the pigeons kept attacking us. Then the metros were open so we took that back to the hotel. Then I did some homework. Then I had to go to a lecture at the American School of Classical Studies for Ancient Culture class. It took us a while to figure out what building it was in. Then we ate at the reception. The lecture was on dirt and environmental archaeology. It was ok. Then Rachel, Rachel, me, Dino, Mike, Nick, and Peter walked back to the hotel. Then me, Bry, Peter, Mark, and Mike all worked on Greek homework in our room. Then I made some eggs and watched the end of You've got Mail. Then Fister came to our room to hang. And now I am finally at e-Global talking to you fine people who are reading my blog.
p.s. Happy Birthday to DW!

The morning me, Bry, Amy, and Val went to Special Breakfast and then walked around while Amy was totally hammered. It was absolutely hilarious.

I have not been doing too much lately. Just been going to class and hanging out. Mark is organizing the trip to Santorini, which I think we are either going this weekend of next weekend. I think it is next weekend though. Debbie took us to a festival on Thursday. It had so much meat it was really disgusting. There was also a parade and greek dancing. The rest of the girls danced and I hung out with the guys. It was a fabulous day. There are so many festivities in greece now since it is the week before lent starts. It is a blast. Well it has been so long since I last wrote that I cannot remember what I have been doing lately. So I will leave it at that. I will talk later and hopefully post some more pics this week.

Yesterday I went to Greek Art and Archaeology class. I was assigned my presentation topic. I picked The Parthenon Frieze just b/c I knew it was a huge topic and I could talk a lot about it to fill in the 15 minute presentation. Then after class I went with Val, Lauren, Rachel, Rachel, and Erin to look for libraries. We went to the National Library first. I don't think that I will ever go to that library again. We got there and the lady was staring at us and thinking why were we there. She was giving us the evil eye the whole time. Then when we went to the lockers to put our stuff away she came over and started speaking greek and she was like ranting and we were like we speak english and she was like I don't and was trying to tell us stuff. Then in her broken english she was like you can't be here. If we were going to stay we had to get a pass with our passports. I did not have my passport. I used my international student ID card. She was like what is this. Where is the number. I showed her and she seemed to be ok with it. Then she told us all that we had to read their books in the library. We looked at each other and were like well what do you think we are going to do besides that. She thought we were going to read our own books or something. Then she told us we could not use the internet. She watched us like a hawk the entire time. It made all of us feel very uncomfortable. She got like every employee around to come and tell us that we could not do stuff and we could not be there or to watch us and only us to make sure we did not do anything to the books. She and all the other employees watched us the entire time. I was reading this french book on Egypt to look for topics for my independent study 50 page paper. I was getting a lot of good ideas from it even though it was in french and was kind of bummed we had to leave. However, it was good that we left b/c I was feeling extremely uncomfortable being there along with the other girls. The mean lady got this guy to watch us and actually come straight up to us to see what we were writing and what not. Then she came up to him when he was right next to us and they started fighting about us in Greek. It was like can't you do that some place else. I am glad we left. Then we walked around a little and then went to the Hellenic American Library a few blocks away. I met this really nice lady on the way who was originally from Bulgaria and she was Greek and she was so interested in us since we came to America. So she was asking me why we were in Greece and how we like it and she was really nice. As soon as we got upstairs to the actual library we only had one woman come up to us and ask us nicely what school we were from. We told her the Canadian Institute and she was totally fine with it. We were not really stared at much. I looked up stuff for my Greek Art and Archaeology presentation and found a lot of information and wrote it all down. Then we left and went back to the hotel. That night I went up to 36 and talked to the guys and they were studying Greek and we talked about how in a few weeks we were going to go to Santorini for like 4 nights or something. So I got in on that and we are going to stay at this extremely nice place. It looks really amazing. I am so excited. I think we are going to go to Crete another weekend. Cosmopoulos was going to give us a friday off of class and then see if Debbie would give us off a thursday too. Then I went down to my room and watched Mulholland Dr. and Sleepy Hollow. The first one was probably the most bizarre movie I have ever seen in my entire life. It was a little confusing as well. Then I went to bed at 3 in the morn. I had to wake up at 10 this morn b/c we had another field trip to the National Archaeological Museum with Cosmopoulos. That was so draining. We were all like dead and he had to work really hard to keep us alive. Then we walked around and looked for a toy store. Then we went back to the hotel. I cooked Greek Style Spaghetti and then went for nap time. I did not wake up til like 7:30 or so. Then I did some Greek homework and went up to 36 for a while and worked with them. Then I watched South Park with Matt Hull and now I am here at e-Global. While I was in 36 Michael threw water from his balcony onto Dino, Peter, and Nick as they were walking by. It was awesome.

Last night I had absolutely nothing to do and neither did Bry. So we were just sittin' and listening to music and what not. So we decided we wanted pizza. Bry called George (the really nice front desk guy who speaks english) and she asked him where a good pizza place was. He gave her a number. Then she called 34 and asked them where they got their pizza. They told her where and gave her the number and what not but they said that they could not remember if it was good or not b/c they were too drunk. We asked 14 about the dominos pizza and they said it was not that good. We told Matt Hull that we were hungry and bored. He said that we could come up to 36 if we wanted to. So we decideded that we would once we found food. Then a few minutes later he called back and said that he would make us spaghetti if we had not found food yet. We took him up on his offer. He is such a gentelman let me tell you. So we went up to 36 to watch movies and eat dinner. We watched Animal House and then we had dinner. Some people decided that they wanted to go out but I did not want to b/c I was having fun watching movies. After Animal House me and Matt watched Farenheit 9/11. Oh my God. That is an excellent kick azz movie. I absolutely loved it. I never knew like half the stuff that Michael Moore reported in it. It was very informative and I fell in love with it. Then I went down to my room and made some more food b/c it had been a while since I had dinner. So I heated some stuff up and then went to bed while listening to the Tarzan soundtrack. Today I woke up at like 10:30 and so did Bry. We talked a little bit about the night before. Then we decided to go to Special Breakfast. I had a frapee, a chocolate donut, and a cheese pie. Then we went back to the hotel and back to bed. I listened to music for a while. We woke up at like 3 or so. I listened to more music and now I am here at e-Global. It has been a pretty unproductive weekend.

Peter's birthday was also the other day so we had a little celebration. We also went to the Parliament Building and to a Museum the other day with Debbie Cosmopoulos. It was really interesting. I took some really good pics which will be up soon. This week we will be going back to the National Archaeological Museum with Michael. I also have my first official greek one class. I also have to talk to Michael Cosmopoulos about my independent study 50 page paper topic and about the museum work which will start next month sometime.
Basically we have all been hanging out a lot. Bry and I threw a dinner party in our apartment last night. We made spanakopita and chicken gyros. I was the one who really made the spanakopita. I had been working on it from 3 in the afternoon until 6 that night. It was a long and trying process. It was an easy recipe but the preparation is so hard. However, everyone loved it like no other mother. They all said it was amazing. I made two pans of it and we only put one out in order to keep the other one warm and stuff. When people were finished with their plates they were apparently thinking that they wanted more spanakopita but there was only like 2 pieces left on the first pan and they felt bad if they were to take it. Then Bry and I said that everyone should have more if they wanted it. We said we have a lot more spanakopita and everyone said where. We were like we have a whole other pan in the oven. Then everyone jumped up and helped themselves to more for that moment and then they took one and wrapped it up in a napkin for later. They were all like oh now we don't feel bad if we take the rest on the pan since there is more in the oven. Bry and I laughed. Everyone absolutely loved it. It was the talk of the night. I was so happy since this was like my first time to make it by myself from scratch. It was indeed amazing. Even Tabitha and Valerie, who don't like spinach, said that it was amazing. Everyone loved the grilled chicken and veggies for the gyros, too. That was all thanx to Bry's George Forman grill that she brought with her. I don't see how we ever could have lived if she did not bring it. Then I went out and bought an ice cream cake. The lady who worked at Special Breakfast place, where I bought it, was like you want one piece and I was like no the whole thing. Then she said you know it is ice cream yes. I was like yeah I know. So I bought it and I laughed. When I told that story everyone laughed as well. Everyone was like so incredibly full when they finished. Tabitha is like in awe that I know how to cook. She was like no matter whose turn it is to cook Alexis always gets involved and helps cook something fabulous. She loves everything I make. It is kind of funny. Nick called me the little yiayia. It was cute. I made a huge mess while I was making it too. The kitchen was covered in spinach and it looked like a tornado hit the kitchen or something. Nick, Dino, and Peter came in and saw the room and Dino was like shit you made a mess. My hands were covered in spinach and feta. My nails are still green from the spinach. It was kind of fun though. After dinner everyone went to their rooms and I went with Bry to e-Global for a few minutes and talked to Kyra online. Then we went back to the hotel and went up to 34 (dino, peter, and nick's room). We call them the GFF's. This means Gay Friends Forever. This is b/c they are always together they never separate and they do everything together and like sleep together and like wrestle with each other. It is kind of sweet but weird at the same time. I noticed that Fister was being kind of a total dick to me the entire day and he looked kind of down and stuff. So I went outside and asked him if he was ok b/c he was being a shithead to everyone. He was like fuck you and go to hell. I was like fine I won't ever ask you if you are ok again. So I called Tabitha b/c she noticed everything too. We talked about it. Then I called Bry and asked her if I could watch Dead Man with Johnny Depp in it. Then Fister called me and was like I am sorry I was so rude to you but I don't like it when people worry about me. I was like whatever. So I have not seen him since last night. I am kind of pissed at him b/c of this. So then I uploaded some pics to my computer and then I watched Dead Man. It is a really good movie. Johnny Depp is so hot it is not even funny. Then I went to bed b/c I was dead tired. I did not wake up until 1 today and then I took a shower and played spider solitaire and now I am at e-Global once again.

So i finally moved down to greek 1. lol. i must say that it needed to happen. basically i have not been doing much. we have all just been hanging out. yesterday was our first real field trip to the national archaeological museum in athens. that was kick ass. it was very interesting. i don't think i have ever seen so much gold in one place before. i also got to see the museum people put the artifacts they had cleaned back into the case. there was also this one guy at the museum who is probably literally 7 feet tall. i measured myself up to him and i went up to his elbows. matt got incredibly drunk once again and he went to the bathroom while we were there like 7 times. he also left early. he looked absolutely terrible. he looked like a ghost. after the museum we all went to a kick ass restaurant place where i just ordered french fries b/c i keep forgetting to go to a stupid atm. i had some of tabitha's coke. yum yum. then we went to this kick ass department store type thing. i think it seriously had everything there ever was in it. then we took the metro back to the hotel for nap time. i did not really take a nap. i did laundry in the tub and that took a while. then while they were soaking i took a nap for a few minutes. then i hung everything outside and then went with bry to 34 with dino, nick, and peter. then i went to 36 with matt, matt, mark, and michael. some of them were studying for greek. i was just sitting and talking to fister for a while. i found out that the bastard does in fact have a girlfriend. and you nerinx girls who are reading this will not believe who it is. it is mo martz. that is the weirdest match i have ever heard of. they totally do not belong together. she is businessy and sporty and he is philosophic and like in love with nature and what not. i could not believe it. apparently they have been on and off for the past 6 years. oh well. he does not know what he is missing. poor bastard. it won't last. i must say i still like him though. oh well. then i found out that bry knows alex papulis from parkway. we were talking about him and his family. then we were talking about theatre and how he was an awesome actor and then how me her and val have all done theatre and how awesome it is. it was a fun time. i went to bed at around 12:30. so that was it for the day. i promise pics are coming soon.

Monday, February 13, 2006

i almost forgot..... happy birthday to my best asian pal thuy. also happy valentine's day to all.
p.s. matt's hair looks so bad. i hate it......
Things have really been uneventful lately. i have been watching the olympics and sleeping and attempting to do homework. i hate greek class. i don't know if i am going to drop it or move back down to greek 1. i will see about that one tomorrow.

Sunday, February 12, 2006

Friday i woke up for nothing. i went to greek class at 11 in the morn and apparently michael was supposed to tell me, dino, and matt that we did not have class that day and that dino and i had to take a test to test into greek 2. i was somewhat pissed off b/c i could have been sleeping. i really wanted to go back to sleep but i could not. i can't really remember what i did this day. it it already sunday and i have not done too much. i have been sleeping a lot. i hve watched the olympics like all day. i missed the opening ceremony so i was mad. last night they all got together but i wanted to sleep. apparently i missed dino getting shut down by a girl. i would have paid to see that. i also missed matt cutting his hair like way way short like not like sluh guys shaggy hair. like matt winkeler short. i saw a pic and it looks terrible. oh well it is his hair so he should do what he likes with it. i will hopefully soon post pics. i have a lot. i also have a couple of videos that are just hilarious. mark was so drunk one night that he thought my leg was a guitar so he started strumming it. it is hilarious. i was laughing my ass off. so pretty much it has been an uneventful weekend. this week starts the real hard core stuff in classes so that should be a blast. we also have our first field trip to the athens national archaeological museum or something. i am excited. i also learned that we get to spend greek easter in pylos. i am very excited for that. and apparently we have all been really loud at night b/c the hotel got complaints. hehehehehe.

Thursday, February 09, 2006

So after I went to class yesterday at around 5 or so, me, amy, bry, tab, and val decided to go to the hotel and drop our stuff off and then we all walked over to Palm Bistro to have lunch. I had the lucious bistro chicken. man was it scrumptious. then we went to the supermarket and bought all this yummy food for dinner that night and other nights. we decided to have a dinner party. so me and bry would cook the dessert and val, amy, and tab would cook chicken and whatnot. we also had to buy laundry detergent to do laundry. laundry by the way costs like 10 euros for wash and 15 for dry. it is ridiculous. so we decided to just wash our clothes in the tub. after the supermarket we all went back to the hotel and put the stuff away. my mom had invited her cousin to come over to meet me. so her cousin decided to cook our dessert for us just to show us how to do it. so me and bry watched as she cooked. then we went to look for chocolate cake mix and water. so we did that and then went back to the hotel. the dessert was basically done. my mom's cousin was gone. then we went downstairs to room 14 to make the chicken. However, i went to room 36 to see what the two matt's, mark, val, and tab were doing. so we stayed there for a few minutes. then we went to room 14 to start making dinner. amy needed help translating the greek directions. i could not understand them and neither could fister so i just made them myself with my own directions. we were all just sitting and talking in the room previously and listening to music and watching tv. then it was dinner time at 9. dino came down but did not eat. we were all scrunched around this table eating together and talking casually. it was really fun. the dinner was good. we had chicken, rice, veggies, bread, and then a cake and ice cream for dessert. it was all amazingly good. then we did dishes and cleaned the kitchen. at this point me, bry, matt, matt, mark, dino, nick, tab, amy, and val were all down in the room together. we started playing card games. we also talked and stuff. amy and tab decided to go out to a bar at around 2 or so in the morn. when they came back they had a story of tab speaking french to someone and amy getting slapped by an old man and him paying 25 euros to her for no reason. it was really funny. we all got up eventually and walked around a bit but came back to the room. fister went to sleep early. peter came down later. we all just sat and had fun. then we migrated up to room 36 when room 34 boys decided to go to sleep. so it was me, val, tab, bry, matt, matt, mark, and mike. we were there for a few minutes. then me, val, and bry decided to go back dowstairs and go to bed. i went to my room and put my pj's on and then went and said good bye to my mom b/c she was leaving at 4 in the morn for st. louis. i went to bed at around 4 in the morn. then i did not wake up until 2:30 the next afternoon just in time for class at 3. so from 3-5 we had class and now we are all sitting at e-global.

Wednesday, February 08, 2006

So today I went to greek class from 10-12. then i went to the hotel and bry called me. so i went to the kiosk and got food and then i went to e-global with bry. then i went back to the delice for a few minutes. my mom just got back from platanos for the day. then i went to ancient greek culture class from 2-5. now we are at e-global once again. then we are going to lunch and to look for a nail place and then going to the supermarket to by laundry shit. b/c apparently it costs 10 euros to wash the laundry once.

Frustration

So Greek 2 is like incredibly hard. I might move back down to Greek 1 b/c I have no f******* clue what I am doing. We shall see.

An interesting time in the internet cafe

So today Amy, me, Val, and Bry went to e-Global for a really long time. We were there for like two hours or something b/c something happened that was like kick ass funny. It was so beyond funny it is not even funny. We were there for a little bit already and then some lady comes over and sits between me and Amy. She was 19 years old. She sits down and starts talking to Amy in Greek and then when she found out amy did not speak greek she turned to me and started speaking it. i could not understand her at all. so i just gave her this weird face and nodded along as if i was agreeing with her or something. Then she starts talking to her computer in greek. she was doing that the entire time. so we were making fun of her then. however, it got so much worse as in funny. then i look over at her screen and she is looking up stuff on rupert grint. ya know ron weasley from harry potter. she started looking up simple pictures. however, she was going towards the more provocative ones. it was hilarious. she was on this pic with a link to a website with the title of veritaserum. right on the top of the website is this provocative pic of rupert grint laying on a bed with a sexy face. then later i look at her screen and she was taking a quiz to see i guess how she and him would be together or something. at this point we were all laughing our asses off. we were iming each other on the computer and making fun of her. i was telling the girls what she was doing every single minute. Then after the little quiz part i look over and she is typing a love letter to rupert grint. She said "Hello Rupert how are you today". Then she types her email address as if he would respond to her. I typed an im to bry and i am cracking up and then she looks over at her and she cracks up as well. that started a rucous. we could not stop laughing. this lady was like looking at us and she thought we were laughing at each other or something. so she started laughing along with us as if she understood what we were talking about. then she started talking in greek to us and then she started talking in a few english words but she was not very good. then a little while later after she had been trying to laugh with us and talk to us in greek and english i look over at her and she is typing yet another love note to rupert grint. this time it read "Hey my lovely Rupert." now by this time we were all laughing our asses off. we could not stop. she had still been looking at pics of him and stuff. then she wrote her email address again. i think by this time she started to catch on that we were looking at her screen. this is b/c she covered up her screen twice. as if she did not want us to see what she was typing. then after a while of her looking up rupert grint pics and writing love emails to him and us laughing our asses off and her talking to us and asking us stuff and what not and her asking every one of us if we had a phone so she could send an SMS message to someone. i am sure that it was either to rupert grint or to a friend about him and stuff. then the computer decides to kick her off completely. she got so pissed off. she started cursing in greek. she was so mad. this is b/c in the middle of writing her second love letter it kicked her off. then she went downstairs to complain to the guys i guess. it was so funny. while she was downstairs we were laughing our asses off upstairs and still iming each other about the whole thing. then she came back up and sat down. she was still pissed off beyond all comprehension. she takes out what i think was her cell phone. which makes one wonder why she was asking us the entire time if we had cell phones so she could send a message. then i imed bry and we were talking about how upset she was and making fun of her. then bry told me that i should bring up a harry potter website and see what she would do. so i went to google and typed in harry potter. then i clicked on the link to the official website for the movies. when it popped up she was so excited. it was hilarious. she was like omg that was a good movie. of course she was talking in her broken english. she was like you like that movie and i was like yes it is my favorite. then i was like do you like it too. and she was like yes it is a very good movie. then i was like which actor is your favorite. she was like yes b/c she could not understand what i was saying. so then i decided to point to harry, hermione, and ron. all individually. i was like do you like this one what about this one and this one. she was like yes to both ron and harry and to hermione she said a little. everyone is cracking up as i am having this conversation with her. then i went to all the links on the website and she was so excited. she was like literally sitting on me and my chair. she was on top of me. it was hilarious b/c she was so excited. so we were talking to each other about the movie. as well as the characters. i could not im anyone anymore b/c it was all about her and she was on top of me and could read english so i could not tell my friends what was going on. however, they could hear everything and they were laughing soooooooooooo hard. i had to restrain myself from laughing. it did not work so well at one point. i just broke out in laughter. now this girl could not even use her computer anymore so you would think that she would leave but she just sat there and looked at harry potter websites with me. she eventually went downstairs again to do something. she came back up again and joined me. after a while of all of this and her not leaving me alone she finally looked away and i typed to bry really fast can we go. she was like yea. so then i clicked out of harry potter websites. the lady was sad she was like ohhhhh. then started talking in greek. then i went to google again and typed in lord of the rings. i went to its official website. she looked over and was like lord of the rings. she was like do you like that film. i was like yes it is my favorite. i was like do you like it. she was like a little. then i clicked on the pics link and this pic of orlando bloom comes up and she was like oh orlando bloom. she asked me if i knew him and i was like yes. then she asked me if i liked him. i was like yes he is my favorite. i asked her if she liked him and she was like a little. she asked me if i had the film and i said yes and she was like oh. the same thing happened with the whole harry potter thing. so she started looking at lord of the rings pics with me. i thought this would be a way to get her not interested in me. however, i was sorely mistaken. she looked in at everything i did on that computer. when that did not work i resorted to looking a pics of rupert grint on google. she was like all over me then. we went through all the pics together and she was like oh i like this one and this one. this one is good. then she said stuff in greek that i did not understand. it was hilarious. so we are still having this conversation and my friends are just laughing their asses off. the guys at the front desk were getting the biggest kick out of us b/c we were laughing for so long and hard. finally they were like let's go. so i signed off and clicked out of all the pics and what not and she was like oh no more that's it. she got really sad. then we got up and went downstairs. she followed us downstairs. we paid. she kind of waited for us while we paid. then she left and said goodbye and we said nice meeting you. we were all still laughing so incredibly hard. then we got outside and we just all broke out in laughter. it was so incredibly funny. i almost started crying i was laughing so hard. you just had to be there. by the way i found out from reading her screen that her name is irene. i asked her verbally what her age was. she also had this little book she was referring to that had the english translation of words in greek. she used it to write her love letters and to speak to us. it was the most hilarious thing i have ever witnessed.

here is just part of the conversation me and bry had while this entire thing was going on:

fifth day

Today we actually started classes. I had Modern Greek 1 and Greek Art. Greek 1 was so incredibly easy. I think she is going to move me and Dino up to Greek 2 with Matt. I actually participated in class. It was a lot of fun. In Greek Art I found out that I have to give a class presentation. That should be kick ass. Before Greek Art me, Bry, and Val went to a french restaurant and I got eclairs and then we went to a kiosk across the way and I got a fanta. I loved it. Then we went back for class. After class, me, Val, and Tabitha went to Syntagma for a few hours to shop. After we were done we could not find our way back to Syntagma. This was b/c we had wandered all the way into the very slums of the city. So we walked around for like two hours or so. I finally found the way back to the metro. IT was all good. I was so tired after that I just went back to my room when we got back to the hotel. I went to sleep at 6 at night. Then I did not wake up until 8 the next morn. I missed some fun stuff it sounded like. Oh well!

fourth day

I think this was the day that we all went to see the super bowl at 1 in the morning at this irish pub. everyone spoke english there so it was fab. I can't really remeber anything else that might have happened today.

Third Day

After the sleepover me and Bry went back up to our room and we both tried to go to sleep. We could not get to sleep, though. So Amy called us and we all went out for breakfast. However, it was sunday morning and nothing is open then. So we decided to go to E-Global. We went on the net for like 30 minutes or so. Then we walked around and finally went back to that place we had breakfast before. I had the same thing except i had orange juice. It was like real orange juice so it was like really good. Then we went back to the hotel and we went to sleep. I did not wake up until like 4 in the afternoon. Then I hung out with everyone. It was fun. Then we went to eat. I don't really remember much. Oh yea we went to Plame Bistro and I had Bistro Chicken and it was scrumptious. Fister was there by himself so when he left he saw us and talked for like a minute. Then we went back to the hotel and did shit. I can't really remember much from this day.

My second day

I woke up at 7:30 in the morn b/c I am screwed up on times. Then went to breakfast with Bry, Tabitha, Val, and Amy. I had tiropita and frappe. Man this coffee is like real coffee. I love it. Then we went to the supermarket to buy food. The ladies in the store were really nice and they spoke good english. Thank God. Then we went back to the hotel, which is called the Delice. We put our groceries away and went down to the lobby to have our first official meeting with Michael and Debbie Cosmopoulos. We got our cell phones. They are awesome. I do not know my number off the top of my head. Maybe next post if I remember. We had a little chit chat about rules and I got my class schedule. I have 5 classes. I might move up to Greek 2 otherwise I will just stay in Greek 1 with Dino just to make fun of the other people in the class b/c they will not get it. We shall see. Michael told us that we were too loud the night before. Apparently Matt Fister was so wasted that he was yelling his room number out on his balcony. He totally missed the meeting b/c he could not get up he was so incredibly wasted. Then Michael took us to the Canadian Institute where our classes will be. He showed us around. It was a nice little tiny place. Then Michael treated everyone to a nice lunch at a Greek restaurant. We all had fried zuchinni, saganaki, horta, salad, all kinds of meat, coke, bread, and what not. Then everyone went their separate ways. I went with Bry, Tabitha, Amy, and Matt Hull to Syntagma Square to go shopping. We took the metro which is totally awesome. It is amazing that Greek people actually took the time to build such a marvelous metro. We were mainly shopping for a hair straightener and dryer for Amy and a water purifier for Matt. We got directions to a place from a girl in english. We could not find it. So I had to go up to an old lady running a kiosk and ask her in Greek where we could find it. She told me and on the way to it we found an even better place. I took lots of pics all day. I will post them later. This store we went to just went on and on. It was amazing. We took pics of mime people. However, this one lady dressed up in what looked like pink octopus gear charged one euro to just take a pic of her. So when she turned the other way I snapped a quick one of her and did not have to pay one euro. hehehe. We walked around a lot. Then we went back to the hotel and I took a nap and so did Bry, who by the way is my roomie. Then we woke up and I worked out my class schedule and loaded pics onto my laptop. Bry cooked pasta. Then my mom came back and was hungry so I went to eat dinner with her. I just had chocolate cake and ice cream. Then we went back and I was beyond bored. So Bry and I went down to Val's, Amy's, and Tabitha's room to party and hang. They ate dinner and we talked. Then Dino, Nick, and Peter came down and we all hung out. We played a really fun game that I liked. Then we had a "sleepover." I still have not been asleep yet. We watched movies and everything. It is now 8 in the morn the next day and I have not slept yet. So I am with Val, Amy, and Bry in the internet cafe and we will go get breakfast. Until next time.

My first day

I can't believe I am finally here. It has been a total blast ever since I arrived. The plane rides were fine. However, the food on the plane from Paris to Athens was like so incredibly gross I could not even look at it b/c it made me sick. I was also sitting by a German Asian guy which was really interesting to me. I rode the plane with a friend who is called Valerie. That was fun. Then we got to Athens and had to ride the bus and we could not get on or off fast enough with all the luggage. It was interesting. Then we got to Evangelismos and could not find the hotel so we had to go looking all around with 50 pound bags in our hands. It was terrible. Then I got settled and met everyone. Then went out to lunch with my mom b/c I was famished. Then came back to the hotel to sleep. Then hung out with everyone that night. Me, Matt, Mark, Matt Hull, Amy, Val, Bry, Lauren, Rachel, and Tabitha went out to a nearby restaurant to eat dinner. We had fun and got to know each other. Then the boys went their way and the girls our way. We went back to the hotel. I went to sleep b/c I was jet lagged. Oh yeah and on the plane ride over here there were some very fine hot Greek boys. I wish I had gotten pics. Alas, I did not. Sad.
